Pan-Africa Distribution: Expanding Reach and Impact

Building on more than 16 years of successful collaboration in Southern Africa, Westcon-Comstor has been appointed as Microsoft’s official cloud distributor across Africa. Under the agreement, the distributor will provide access to key Microsoft offerings, including Azure, Microsoft 365, Modern Work, and Security solutions, through its network of resellers, system integrators, and managed service providers.

Westcon-Comstor already operates in nine African countries. The new arrangement leverages its established presence and data-driven distribution model to extend Microsoft’s cloud reach and help partners unlock new revenue opportunities.

Empowering Partners with Training, Enablement, and Data Insights

The partnership is not limited to distribution. Westcon-Comstor will provide value-added services such as:

  • Training and enablement programmes to improve partner capabilities.
  • Data analytics tools to support customer acquisition and recurring revenue growth.
  • Consultancy support to help partners transition to cloud-based and “everything-as-a-service” (XaaS) models.

Research by Westcon-Comstor shows that while African channel partners see data as critical to their growth, more than half struggle to access the right insights. This initiative aims to close that gap.

Advanced Support Services for Partners

In Southern Africa, Westcon-Comstor has strengthened its Microsoft Advanced Support Services, providing:

  • 24/7 technical support for Azure and Microsoft 365, the only distributor in the region to do so.
  • Specialised cloud assessments in areas such as Application Modernisation, Microsoft Copilot optimisation, Azure Tenant, M365 Tenant, and Partner Centre.
  • Proactive monitoring, cost and security optimisation, and white-labelled service delivery so partners can deliver branded expert services.
  • Guidance based on the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) to ensure smooth migrations and effective governance.

These services are designed to help partners deliver higher-value solutions to customers while enhancing operational efficiency.

Leadership Perspectives

Vincent Entonu

Vincent Entonu, Managing Director of Westcon-Comstor Africa, highlighted the significance of the expansion:

“It’s hugely exciting to become an official Microsoft distributor for the whole of Africa.”

Louise Taute, Managing Director for Southern Africa, added:

“This expansion is testament to the value our team has added and the strategic role distribution plays in the African technology ecosystem.”

Why This Matters for Africa

  • Greater access: More businesses across Africa can adopt Microsoft’s cloud platforms.
  • Stronger partner ecosystem: Enhanced training and insights will help African IT partners scale their services.
  • Economic impact: By driving digital adoption, the initiative contributes to Africa’s broader transformation agenda.

Future Prospects

The expanded collaboration between Westcon-Comstor and Microsoft marks a defining moment for Africa’s digital economy. By combining extensive distribution reach, advanced technical support, and data-driven enablement, the partnership will accelerate partner transformation and position African businesses to thrive in a cloud-driven future.
