A Two-Week Builder Residency & Pop-Up City

  • The event commenced with a Builder Residency, where 50 selected developers, designers, and researchers from across Africa and beyond lived, built, and collaborated intensively for two weeks.
  • Simultaneously, a bustling Pop-Up City welcomed over 200 participants daily, fostering an open, co-working innovation environment alongside the residency.
  • This “living hub” experiment blurred lines between work, co-creation, and community, illustrating a decentralized, vibrant real-world Web3 ecosystem.

The Flagship Conference Day

  • On August 16, the summit culminated in Nigeria’s first Ethereum Conference, which drew over 1,000 attendees, including developers, founders, researchers, students, and global guests.
  • The full-day agenda included protocol deep-dives, panel discussions, cultural showcases, project demos, and talks linking local realities to Ethereum’s global trajectory.

Ethereum Research Village & Ecosystem Innovations

  • A dedicated Ethereum Research Village (ERV) served as a hub for exploring core protocol research, node operations, infrastructure, peer-to-peer networking, and advanced blockchain experimentation.
  • An Ecosystem Day spotlighted non-EVM blockchains, promoting cross-chain collaboration and broader Web3 inclusion.

Participants & Community Spirit

  • ETH Enugu ’25 attracted a global mix of attendees, from Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, to the U.S., Canada, and Colombia.
  • It also fostered cultural richness with guided local tours, group fitness sessions, co-living dynamics, and social events that intertwined Igbo heritage with Ethereum’s builder spirit.

Vision & Leadership

  • The event was conceptualised and led by Okoye Kevin Chibuoyim, also known as Ezemmuo Blockchain, who emphasised that ETH Enugu ’25 belongs to “everyone building for the future of Ethereum in Africa,” not just one organiser.
  • Designed as a bold experiment in decentralised co-creation, the conference aimed to serve as a new blueprint for thriving African Web3 ecosystems.

Nigeria’s Web3 Future

ETH Enugu ’25 stands as a landmark moment in Nigeria’s tech landscape. It brought together builders, thinkers, and creators in a living, decentralised ecosystem, merging culture, collaboration, and blockchain innovation. Beyond the conference itself, it sets the stage for future Web3 events across Africa, nurturing community, creativity, and local-led innovation.
